Four-Year-Old Kindergarten
What is Four-Year-Old Kindergarten?
Four-Year-Old Kindergarten (4K) offers students the opportunity to engage in developmentally appropriate and interactive play-based learning. Students are exposed to a literacy and language rich environment, which fosters vocabulary and communication abilities. Students learn important social skills through positive interactions with peers and adults. The learning environment supports students as they make decisions and initiate play while becoming confident, independent, joyful and motivated learners.
Who is eligible to participate in 4K?
4K is open to all students residing in the district who will be four years of age on or before September 1st of the upcoming school year. 4K classes are available in each of the district’s four elementary schools. You are encouraged to register your 4K student as early as possible to help ensure placement in their attendance-area school.
When is 4K offered?
4K students attend school five days per week from 8:45 am - 3:26 pm. There is an option for families to enroll their child for a shortened day from 8:45 am - 11:20 am. Students may transition to full-day 4K at specific points in the school year. We encourage all families to enroll their children in the full-day program by April.
