School psychologists support students, families, educators, and members of the community to understand and address both long-term, chronic problems and short-term issues that students may face. School psychologists are uniquely qualified members of school teams that support a student's ability to learn and grow. They share their expertise in mental health, development, learning, and behavior to help children succeed academically, socially, behaviorally, and emotionally. School psychologists provide comprehensive services to build supportive school environments that strengthen connections between home, school, and the community (adapted from NASP, 2020).
