Senior Tax Exchange Program
The Senior Tax Exchange Program (STEP) in Greenfield invites senior citizens into our schools and provides them the opportunity to share their knowledge and experiences with our staff and students. The program provides an opportunity for social security eligible citizens to help in the schools in exchange for a property tax credit.
Who Qualifies?
Senior citizens 62 years of age or older that own a home and reside within the boundaries of the School District of Greenfield are eligible.
How is a property tax credit obtained?
The credit amount as determined by the District, which is $6.50 per volunteer hour (maximum of $500), is applied annually by the City of Greenfield Treasurer's Office towards the property tax bill of the volunteer.
