At each School Board meeting, the Board will review the rate of disease burden, percent positive test rate in the city and county, and other relevant factors to determine when and if the next phase(s) can occur. Once groups of students begin phasing back to in-person learning the Board will also review the number of cases impacting the schools and the number of students and staff under isolation and quarantine
Isolation is required when an individual tests POSITIVE for COVID-19. This requires that an individual be excluded from work/school for a ten (10) day period of time since the onset of symptoms. Isolation orders can come from a physician and/or the Greenfield Public Health Department. A student or staff member who is exhibiting two or more COVID-like symptoms but has not gone to be tested for COVID would still need to isolate for 10 days. A symptomatic individual who receives a negative test OR a different diagnosis that explains the symptoms may return to school/work prior to the completion of the 10 days as long as they are fever free for 24 hours.
Quarantine is required when an individual is identified as a CLOSE CONTACT to someone who is COVID positive. A close contact is defined as being less than 6 feet apart (masked or unmasked) for a cumulative total of 15 minutes or longer in a 24 hour period of time. The duration of a quarantine order is 14-days. Contact tracers from the Greenfield Health Department in collaboration with the school will communicate quarantine orders.
