Local Health Departments are responsible for communicable disease follow-up for all residents under WI State Statute 252.
When a positive case is identified, the Local Health Department will work with their nursing staff and the school to complete a follow-up investigation. An isolation period will be determined for the confirmed case based on onset of symptoms.
The Local Health Department will contact the appropriate school staff to obtain a list of all individuals that were in close contact (within 6 feet of the confirmed case for a cumulative of 15 minutes or longer in a 24 hour period of time) with the confirmed case two days prior to the last day the confirmed case was at school/school activity.
The school will provide the list to the Local Health Department in a timely manner.
Contact tracing will be completed by the Local Health Department according to contact jurisdiction. The Local Health Department will coordinate the notification of close contacts with appropriate local health departments. Close contacts who are Greenfield residents will be notified by phone call, letter, or text message from the Greenfield Health Department and directed to quarantine immediately.
