On April 27, 2020, the Board of Education for the School District of Greenfield approved the appointment of Todd Willems to serve as the principal of Greenfield High School.
Mr. Willems is a veteran educator with experience teaching Social Studies and English, as well as serving as athletic director and academic dean, at Burlington Catholic Central High School. Mr. Willems served as the principal of Messmer High School before becoming the Chief Academic Officer for Sienna Catholic Schools of Racine.
Patrice Ball, Director of Secondary Education for the District, noted that Mr. Willems’ experience as a teacher, among the many other positions he’s held, made him uniquely qualified to continue the growth and progress that has occurred at Greenfield High School under Mr. Paul Thusius. “Mr. Willems is a dynamic leader who complements the talents of an exceptional school staff. His belief in the importance of a strong school culture and his commitment to meaningful learning and rigorous outcomes for all students aligns with the trajectory of success cultivated by Mr. Paul Thusius.”
According to Lisa Elliott, Superintendent of Schools, “Mr. Willems stood out among a deep pool of candidates. His knowledge, experience and positive approach to learning fits perfectly with our belief that all learning begins with meaningful relationships. With his leadership, we’ll continue our progress towards developing learners who can apply knowledge and think innovatively as a result of engaging in rigorous and relevant opportunities.”
Through the hiring process, Mr. Willems noted the strong and caring faculty & staff who are committed to growing the next generation of leaders in Greenfield. “I am excited to begin to build relationships with the students, families, and staff of Greenfield High School. Together we will enhance the strong academic foundation already in place by finding new and exciting ways to support the learning of our students. Our collective work will ensure that Greenfield High School prepares our students to become leaders and innovators in college, career, and community settings,” said Mr. Willems.
