The impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has made education anything but business as usual. Navigating this new learning environment has been challenging to teachers, students and families. We are immensely grateful for the remarkable support our families have offered to our students and our staff during times in which you are facing new and unforeseen challenges. We can’t tell you how much we miss seeing your students in the classroom.
By now, teachers have notified you and your student about the essential learning required in each course and pieces of evidence that will demonstrate mastery of this learning for your student to successfully complete their classes.
An alternative grading procedure is available for courses at Greenfield High School during the spring of 2020. This procedure will allow students to choose, class-by-class, to have their regularly earned grade recorded or have it replaced by a Credit/No Credit option.
The course expectation for students who opt into Credit/No Credit grading remains the same. Selecting the option of Credit/No Credit grading allows students to gain credit for courses without assigning a grade that would be calculated into a students GPA, impact class rank, honor roll, or Cum Laude. To maintain athletic eligibility students need to continue to maintain a GPA of 1.5 and can have no more than one failing or no credit grade.
The decision to opt into a Credit/No Credit option must be communicated to each teacher of the course(s) students choose to move to a Credit/No Credit option. A lack of communication will result in grading continuing as normal with no changes being made. The window to opt into Credit/No Credit grading is Thursday, May 21st through Wednesday, June 10th.
The following form must be filled out for EACH class the student wishes to take for Credit/No Credit. It will not open unless the student is using their Greenfield School District email.
Credit/No Credit Form
Please remember, there are required classes the student must earn credits for in order to qualify for graduation. If they choose a Credit/No Credit option for one of these classes and then earns a No Credit (U), the student will have retake the semester of the course.
